The objective of the project “tmp-homebase” was to design and implement spatial improvements in the temporary shelters for asylum seekers in the special transit area of Vienna International Airport. With little means available, the challenge for the project was to make existing residential containers more functional and in particular more habitable for their temporary users. On an area of around 100 m2, fixtures were installed to provide some variety and privacy for refugees during the uncertain waiting period of their pending asylum proceedings.
